Specialists in the assessment of nanomaterial toxicity to human health and the environment

Dr Thomas Aspray

THomas Aspray - People pageTom joined the School of Life Sciences as lecturer in microbiology in 2012 following seven years working in the environmental industry. His research areas of interests include waste/wastewater treatment and resource recovery, the biofilm mode of growth, soil/water microbial ecology and soil carbon/nitrogen cycling. In the last couple of years Dr Aspray’s research has become increasingly interdisciplinary in nature with current projects on microfluidics for biological cell separation, as well as, laser and optical fibre sensors for environmental analysis and the development of bacterial based biosensors for nanomaterial ecotoxicity testing.
